Meeting Called to order by Chair, Denny Mihalinec
Pledge of Allegiance by Herb Green
Benediction by Pastor Raley

Herb stated that Kathleen has resigned as Secretary.  As provided for in Section 4 (c) of the Association bylaws, “Should the office of Secretary or Treasurer become vacant, the Board will appoint a successor who will serve the remainder of the term.”  Richard Riley was nominated to be Secretary of the Greater Trilby Community Association.  Nominated by Herb, Seconded by Eileen.  Passed unanimously.  Richard will serve as Secretary until general elections next January or February.  Denny asked Richard to take minutes of the board meeting.

Herb was asked to give a report on the general business of the Association.

Patrol car has been repaired (alternator and tires) for a cost of $284.  Need funds for paint and insurance.

Pauline reported that there is $199.75 in the Association Account.

Kathy Riley was asked to report on the status of the Greater Trilby News newsletter.

Denny has accepted the responsibility as advertising sales coordinator for the newsletter.  He has made presentations at several associations that he belongs to, and will be contacting local people for ads.  Rate cards and examples were handed out.

Kathy stated that she has a concern:  The distribution of the newsletter is not well implemented yet.  Local delivery is difficult, especially in places like the Trilby Manor where there are no mailboxes.  It was suggested that different board members be responsible for certain areas of the community.  It was decided that Kathy and Herb will make certain that multiple copies of the newsletter are distributed to the local retail food and gas stores and both post offices.

Kathy asked for Bios from the remaining two board members that she has not yet profiled.

The deadline for the next issue is Monday, June 20, and Kathy asked for story ideas and input.

Herb asked for recognition of Kathy for the successful first three issues of the newsletter.

Eileen expressed frustration over the lack of community response for the social activities the Association is offering at the Community Center.

She has offered bingo, line dancing, and painting classes.  The painting was successful last month, but has been canceled this month due to lack of attendants.  It was discussed that many activities wind down “when the Yankees leave.”  She stated that she is hoping to get a Bridge Class going as well as a Stained Glass craft class sometime in August or September.

She is also concerned about the response and help that she will need for the Saturday night dance, June 25.  She says that she will need help setting up on Friday.

Herb turned the meeting back over to Denny.

Bob Blanchard will be the guest speaker at the next general meeting; June 16.  He will speak on water conservation, conservation easements, and the Little Everglades Steeplechase.

A small hot dog dinner will be provided at 6 to 7 pm before the meeting.  Pastor Dave will provide the meat and some of the other supplies.

The September annual dinner is scheduled for September 15.  6:30 pm.  Attendance will be $25 donation.  There will be many awards.  Nominations need to be sent soon.  Pauline has contacted a catering company for the food.  Turkey breast was agreed to as the entrée.

People need to volunteer for many responsibilities of the dinner.  Herb will be MC.  Somebody needs to help with decorations.  Pauline will supervise the silent auction.  Denny will ask Scott Black to coordinate the nominations for awards.  Purpose of the dinner is to raise funds for TAC and to acknowledge the good work of many people in the area.

Kim’s Play-a-round will be hosting the Chamber of Commerce mixer on Thursday, July 28, 5 to 7 pm

The county or state highway departments are surveying the CR575 / US98 intersection and have installed traffic counters across the road.

The Community Center and Methodist Church have been designated AFTER storm shelters and distribution sites for emergency supplies by the County and the Red Cross.

Denny reported that Joe Potter at Pasco News called him and offered to have a weekly section of his paper dedicated to an article under “Trilby News.”  Kathy will consider it after talking to Joe.  There was discussion about the name of the section.  Intent is to have it reflect the tri-community.  It was moved by Pastor Dave and seconded by Herb that the title be “Greater Trilby News”.  Passed

Bernadine reported that she would like to volunteer for more duties in the Association, but has work and family conflicts at the moment.  Will try to in the future.

Richard Riley presented suggested changes in the bylaws.  Herb made one correction, Pastor Juan moved acceptance, Herb seconded.  Passed.  Now changes must be brought to general meeting next month. (There is a 20 day delay mentioned in the bylaws)

Richard and Denny reported on the Historical Committee that met at 6 pm earlier.  Scott Black is developing a Historical Tour Guide to have available in businesses and other public places.  The document is still in the early stages, but Scott has created a listing of over 50 possible items of interest.

Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 18, 7 pm. -- Meeting Adjourned at 8:10 pm
