Important
Annual GTCA meetings this Month
General
elections and annual planning meeting is on Thursday, January 19.
Board of Directors meet on Monday, January 23.
Planning is the key topic for the January meetings this year. “We need input from all the community, not just those of us on committees or boards,” Stated Herb Green, GTCA President.
“Without a direction from the residents, we can
only guess what is important in the community,” he continued.
“We want this organization to be valuable to everybody here, and to
be used by them.”
Some of the topics already under consideration are:
expanding youth activities and support programs such as after-school
tutoring, continuing the crafts programs coordinated by Eileen Lamb, and
others.
The Association also wants to create a full-year
schedule, which includes upcoming events and programs in all seasons.
Also on the agenda is the election of officers for
the upcoming year. A nominating
committee has recommended a slate of officers that continues the existing
leadership. They are: Herb Green,
President, Kathleen Fink, Vice President, Richard Riley, Secretary, and Kim
Rowe, Treasurer.
Any and all Tri-Community members are invited and
urged to attend. “At the
moment, we haven’t had a lot of general attendance from Hunter Hill,
Lacoochee in general, the Sawmill campground, Riverdale and Fort Dade estates
(both in Hernando County just above the river) or people on Christian Road,”
stated Richard Riley, Secretary. “Our
core group appears to be people who live on Trilby Road, Old Trilby Road, or
in Trilby Trails. We need to
expand our base and influence.”
According to the Association by-laws (available at www.trilbyfl.com)
the annual meeting is required for election of officers and board members.
Since the Association is still in the second year of its existence,
board elections will be next year at this time.
The General meeting will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday,
January 19 at the Trilby Community Center.
The Greater Trilby Community Association was
established in 2004 by Denny Mihalinec and other community leaders.

Board
Meeting January 23
This month’s Executive Committee and Board meeting will be Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 pm at the Trilby United Methodist Church.
From
the Chair:
New year's greetings to all!
Here's hoping that 2005 ended on a good note
and that 2006 will be a most successful year for you.
A special thank you to the committee that coordinated the recent community Christmas party. It was a very nice social event and it was good to see each one, especially the scout troop lending their enthusiasm to the occasion!
As we enter the new year, our association values your input more than ever as we seek solutions to both old and new challenges. I hope to see you at our next general membership meeting on January 19 at 7:00 p.m.
As always, remember to say hello to your neighbors, make attractive your corner of the world, and always be proud to say you're a "Trilbian."
With these cooler days, be sure and ride your bicycle or take a hike on the Withlacoochee State Trail...What a great resource for our community!
